By changing their habits, users of public-owned non-residential buildings can reduce overall energy consumption. How does this work with TRIBE and BRICKER?

In early March, the World Sustainable Energy Days 2017 took place in Wels, Austria. 

The Spanish Construction Technology Platform (PTEC) held its annual conference in Seville in mid-November last year. 

Since September 2016, the renovation works at the Province of Liège School of Engineering have been progressing, and now as we move towards the New Year, a new phase has just begun. It involves installing a renewable heating system, the first of its kind in Europe, if not the world.

BRICKER partners were in for a surprise when they convened in Brussels recently for the project’s second review by EC officials.

At the beginning of May, the BRICKER Steering Committee gathered for its annual meeting.

Energy efficient buildings ─ it’s all about mid- to long-term impact. On our environment, on our relationship with our environment, on the way we live, on the way we work.

On 23 March, members of the BRICKER team in Liège, Belgium, reached out to students and lecturers, delivering a set of presentations about the retrofitting works that started a few months ago at their industrial engineering college.

Beyond the overview of work packages, the three-day gathering featured the project’s 3^rd exploitation workshop, the content of which was put together by the newly established exploitation board (with ACCIONA, STEINBEIS and TECNALIA ).

As part of the European Researchers’ Night, an event was held and co-organised by BRICKER partner FBK which was the stage for a series of presentations by young scientists. 

The third edition of Sustainable Places will take place in Savona, Italy on 16-18 September. During the second day, BRICKER will be co-hosting a workshop entitled Innovative retrofitting activities alongside fellow projects A2PBEER and RESSEEPE.

Mid-April saw the BRICKER project’s first review, coming after one and a half years of endeavours. Members of the consortium convened in the Belgian capital and delivered presentations in the presence of the Project Officer and Project Technical Advisor.

The BRICKER project’s General Assembly convened in Cáceres, Spain, from 1st to 3rd October to check the current status of the project progress against plan and to map out the tasks and challenges that lay ahead in the short to mid-term. It was also the opportunity for the 18 partner  consortium to check out for the first time  the Spanish demonstration site managed by the Government of Extremadura.

The BRICKER project, co-funded by the EU, is currently holding its General Assembly in Cáceres, bringing together a consortium of 18 partners from 6 countries. 

The first BRICKER steering committee meeting took place on March in Belgium where the BRICKER demonstration site of the University of Liège is located. 

Last week the BRICKER consortium launched www.bricker-project.com designed to provide a platform for dissemination and exchange on retrofit solutions applied to non-residential public buildings. 

The project BRICKER, co-funded by the EU, takes off this month for four years of efforts towards reducing energy consumption in public buildings by 50%. With an overall budget of almost €13 million, coordinator Acciona along with their partners will produce a scalable, replicable and cost effective methodology for refurbishing existing public-owned non-residential buildings.
